DSC01003My first exam, Corpora and Statistical Methods, is on next Tuesday. I used to like exams. There’s something about studying together until the last minutes, sharing pages of notes and anxiety, that made exams, well, fun. Mostly because to me they were like that tunnel with a small light at the end of it. You just need to go through it, and once it ends, say hello to the bright sun. No need to worry about the results.

Here, however, exam weeks feel like an anticlimax. Not only that my exams are spread in such a loooong period (when all I want is just to get them done), but also the fact that this semester does not end with them. Oh no, I still have tons of assignments due until the end of February. And even more interesting, semester 2 begins right after the exams over, i.e. the start of February. Well, you may have deduced that we don’t have recess between semesters here.

Not that I’m complaining about it. I’m completely fine with not having a holiday. After all, there is no obligation to attend the lectures, so I can have holiday anytime by skipping classes. Not that I will do it, though (skipping classes for a holiday, I mean. Not skipping classes in general XP). Well what bothers me is the fact that finishing exams won’t make me feel that relieved.

But I’m not going to be relieved at all if I don’t prepare myself well. Speaking about preparations, there’s no such thing as Kuncung sitting together in a bench and laughing over Murphy’s Law like before Project Management exam. I miss those days. But as Murphy said, if anything can go wrong, then it will. So I better start studying now.
