I’m regretting the fact that I didn’t bring more of my old books. Because even though bookshops are very near from my apartment, what I need right now is stories that are familiar. Stories in Indonesian words. Stories with no surprises, that tell the tales I already knew, only to be read over again with a fresh perspective.

I changed this blog template yesterday. And to test how it looked, I scrolled through the posts labeled with ‘books’ and found this post. So, reminded of the book, I looked at its Facebook page and found out that Ang Lee would film it in 3D. Well, I never really liked Ang Lee’s movies so far and the idea of 3D is somewhat intimidating.

Most of the time I am very skeptical about turning books into movies. Because there are things that pictures and sounds cannot capture well enough. Of course at times I was wrong. But I remember reading A Beautiful Mind, which was quite a life-changing read for me. And then I see the movie, which was good, too but very different from the book and reality.

That’s when I realized: movies don’t tell you the truth.

Well, not that it’s a big deal. Haven’t we already had enough of reality? That’s why I always choose movies that are relaxing. A few nights ago I watched (for the second time) Into The Wild with my friends here. They loved it, I hated it. Well, what can I say? What they call as ‘deep and philosophical’ seemed like ‘slow and boring’ to me :D

Speaking about movies, the Internet speed is very fast here in my apartment! Now I can watch shallow, romantic movies whenever I want.
